W. Kwan Program Co-founder |
| David Kwan is the Head of Foundation Programs Incorporated
and a co-founder of the Glimpses of China program.  He has a
longstanding interest in promoting cross-cultural understanding among high school
students and has led the overall design, development, and implementation efforts
of Glimpses of China since its inception in 2001.
Before co-founding Foundation Programs, David was a Vice President at Citibank, N.A., in Hong Kong, where he served as the Head of Marketing and Head of Customer Fulfillment for the Emerging Local Corporate business.  Prior to that, he worked for The Walt Disney Company in Asia and was responsible for business development in its consumer products business in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.  David started his career in Singapore as a management consultant with Booz Allen & Hamilton, one of the world’s leading global strategic and technology consulting firms, where he helped consumer products, technology, and financial services companies to expand and restructure their businesses in Asia. David has worked in and traveled to over 25 countries in the world and he now lives in Shanghai and Hong Kong.  He was educated at the University of Cambridge, where he received his Master of Arts (Hons) degree in Law. |

Roy E. Bergeson Program Co-founder |
| Roy Bergeson has been involved with secondary education
in the US and China for a total of 36 years and he was a co-founder of the
Glimpses of China program.
After graduating from Phillips Exeter Academy and receiving his Bachelor's Degree in European History from Stanford University, he began his teaching career at The Webb Schools in Claremont, California, and over the next 23 years he taught history and chaired the History Department, served as a Dormitory Head, Dean of Students, Director of Admissions, Dean of the Faculty, and Assistant Headmaster.  He visited Asia on behalf of the school in 1983 and 1985, and in 1989 led a combined student and faculty trip of 30 participants to China. In 1992 Roy traveled east to earn his Master's Degree in Asian Studies from Seton Hall University and subsequently took a position as Head of the Upper School at Collegiate School in New York City.  During his period of leadership there, Collegiate started teaching Chinese and Roy led three student/parent/faculty trips to China.  In 2000 he went to China to establish a close relationship, including the exchange of both students and teachers, between Collegiate School and Suzhou Middle School, one of the top high schools in China.  Roy taught English in Suzhou for two years and in September, 2002, he was made an honorary citizen of Suzhou for "his contributions to Suzhou in Opening-up and Development."  Roy was a key participant in the design and implementation of the program from 2001 to 2005 and was part of the teaching faculty between 2005 and 2007.  He has retired from the program and now resides in Shanghai. |
